Hall, Ralph Ripley (1946–)

After studying horn with Sydney Coulston at the RMCM and a period playing with the UK's major orchestras, Ralph became a member of the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra and then the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. A period of freelancing in London was followed by an appointment as Head of Brass in an Icelandic Music School, then teaching and playing for Staffordshire Music Service. A further playing position was offered in the Niederrheinische Sinfoniker in Germany followed by a move to the Middle East where he became Director of the Royal Guard of Oman Military School of Music. In the UK Ralph conducted orchestras and brass bands and after moving abroad, a wind band in Germany and a symphonic brass ensemble in Holland. For all these groups Ralph has composed and arranged music and this is now his main, musical activity.
