Kārlis Rērihs is Latvian horn player and composer, currently holding a low horn position in chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga. He has been a guest musician in Collegium Novum Zurich, ChaArts, Oesterreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik. During his horn studies in Lucerne (with Prof. Olivier Darbellay) he participated in the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy and the Davos Young Artists Festival.
As an orchestra and chamber musician he has performed under the batons of conductors like Jörg Widmann, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, Heinz Holliger, Pablo Heras-Casado, Jonathan Stockhammer. As a co-soloist Rērihs appears in CD "Horn Universe" by Hervè Joulain.
In 2023 he finished his Master studies in Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of music (Prof. Andris Vecumnieks). During his studies he received several awards (3rd place in Pēteris Vasks competition, Nic Gothams stipendium).
Currently Rērihs is leading a horn class in the Music High School in Ventspils as well as working as a freelance composer and arranger.
En Route was 'highly commended' in the inaugural British Horn Society Composition Competition in November 2024.
