Nicky Peet wanted to play the horn as a child but as the school didn't have one she took up the trumpet. This was relatively easy and she reached Grade VIII without too many problems - but it wasn't a horn. During time in York as a micro-biologist she became involved with the Opera North Horn Club, had some lessons and found that the horn was not so easy! For a time she worked as a felt-maker in Fetlar on Shetland but for the last few years of her life lived in North Wales and found her musical outlet played in a brass band first on the tuba and latterly on the euphonium.
