Andy Meyers studied conducting, piano & horn at Trinity College of Music, winning the Ricordi Prize for conducting, the Elisabeth Schumann Prize for Lieder (pianist) and the Dorothy Hawes Prize for French Song (Pianist). In 1985 he was a prize-winner in the Stroud International Composers Competition, with his Sonata for oboe and piano and in 2005 he was runner up in the 2005 BBC Radio 4 Christmas Carol Competition.
Andy has written orchestral works including Encore Une Fois, Cantilena, Midsummer Night's Dream Suite and Sinfonietta Concertante with concertos for flute, bassoon, recorder, bass clarinet and a concerto for horn - Orion that was premiered by Richard Watkins. His work Serenade for Horn and Strings was recorded by Alexei Watkins with the Chamber Ensemble of London in 2022. Andy's music has been performed in many venues across London, and in Europe his music has been played at the Palais des Beaux Arts - Lille, Waalse Kirk – Delft and in the Sint Maartenskerk - Kortrijk.
Andy's educational music is published by OUP, Watnots Music and Peacock Press. He is currently employed as the Musical director of the Kingston Chamber Orchestra and the Mid Sussex Sinfonia.
Suite for solo horn was 'highly commended' in the inaugural British Horn Society Composition Competition in November 2024.
